Job Overview


The Pricing Analyst will support the Innovation and Value Department in analyzing data to support pricing proposals and pricing operations. The Analyst will work with the Pricing team, client relationship attorneys, and other attorneys to analyze, develop and monitor pricing arrangements. Additionally, the Pricing Analyst will support the firm’s approval process for pricing arrangements and execute upon the firm’s annual rate fee arrangement review. The Analyst will also collaborate with others in the Department and the firm.


This role has a hybrid working arrangement. Potential candidates must live within community distance of our Chicago, Philadelphia, or Washington, DC office to be onsite 3 days per week. In this role, you will report to the Senior Value Manager.


Essential Functions


Pricing Proposals

  • Assist with the design, implementation, and tracking of pricing arrangements.
  • Collaborate with members of the pricing and business development teams to conduct pricing analysis and prepare responses to RFPs and pitches that align client and firm business objectives.
  • Monitor pricing requests and execute upon the department’s pricing approval and fee arrangement setup process.
  • Assist with compilation of rate and AFA information for proposals and new business efforts.


Pricing Analysis

  • Analyze non-standard pricing requests, make recommendations for financial improvement where necessary, and approve arrangements within authority set by department.
  • Develop models to assess the financial impact of pricing proposals using a variety of business analytical tools, including Excel, Sharepoint and PowerBI.
  • Conduct annual rate benchmarking, standard rate-setting, and client rate management analysis, making recommendations to the pricing department and firm leaders regarding standard and client rate strategies.


Pricing Operations

  • In partnership with the pricing team, execute upon the firm’s process in the annual firmwide Fee Arrangement Review, ensuring compliance with client requirements and firm protocols.
  • Assist with compilation of data for firm participation in industry survey requests.
  • Collaborate with Client Intake, Finance, Technology, Marketing, Human Resources, and Practice Management on pricing and legal project management needs.
  • Prepare, read, and interpret complex information and clearly present findings.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Work additional hours as needed to fulfill job requirements.

Skills/Qualifications


  • 2+ years of experience with complex financial or pricing analysis, preferably at a law firm.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics required.
  • Strong technical skills, including advanced Excel skills (including use of vertical and horizontal lookups, macros, pivot tables and modeling) and a high level of proficiency in Word and PowerPoint required.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Experience in using data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau or Power BI) is strongly desired.
  • Proficient working with pivot tables and data cubes, and an understanding of relational databases.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to develop positive working relationships (in-person and virtually).
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy is extremely critical.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.
  • Ability to protect and maintain confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with effective organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated energetic and enthusiastic team player.
